Limit your use of hair styling products. Hairspray, mousse, and gel may contribute to dandruff in some people. They may also cause excessive drying of the skin, which can cause flaking--or trigger allergic reactions. Wash your hair regularly. Dandruff seems to thrive in oily hair, so regular shampooing can help you fight it off. If you already have dandruff, washing your hair may help you keep the symptoms (the flakes) under control until it goes away. Use a shampoo designed to treat dandruff. If dandruff persists despite regular shampooing, you may need something stronger. There are a variety of anti-dandruff shampoos available at your pharmacy or grocery store, and they usually work.

I totally hear you. I've had the same problem for years.
I've finally found something that works for me. I use Paul Mitchell Tea Tree shampoo. Expensive, but marvelous. It has menthol so it exposes the scalp. AFTER that, I use Head and Shoulders Intensive Treatment (The orange stuff, best you can buy over the counter). Lastly, I use the Tea Tree conditioner to moisturize.
If that still doesn't work, it's time to see a dermatologist and get a prescription. Don't stop until you get it fixed. Unfortunately, people react very negatively to dandruff, especially if you're young, and assume things about you that can hurt you socially and professionally.

The following will help reduce the dandruff in the hair.

One egg
2 tablespoons curd.
Mix the above ingredients in a cup and apply to your hair, rubbing it in the scalp gently.
Leave it on the hair for 1/2 hour. and wash it with water.
Do not use shampoo for washing the hair.
Soak 5 shikkakai dried beans and 5 areethas ( soap nut) at night in a mug of water.Mash them in the morning and strain . Use that water to wash the hair.

First apply some oil in your hair,so that the dandruff gets soft and then comb your hair carefully so that your dandruff get started tearing off from your hair. Then, wash your hair with any gentle anti-dandruff shampoo.
For smoothing of your hair,
star applying oil in your hair for 2 times a week , wash your hair properly with shampoo and condition your hair with a good conditioner.

There is also a misconception that dandruff is caused by dry scalp. In fact, it is due to an oily scalp. Wrong dietary habits like excessive consumption of cheese and chocolates also cause oil to accumulate on the scalp and cause dandruff. Worry and tension increase the flow of oil in the scalp, make you prone to dandruff. These white flakes can be a nightmare. Dandruff further tends to weaken the scalp, and the flakes falling on your face, neck and shoulders can affect your skin too.

well, some people use Head & Shoulders with various
results, but there are things that can and do help alot more
like keeping your scalp moisterized. The skin is dry on your
head and most likely is causing your dandruff problem.
Massage your scalp with one of those new massge oils, that
are made for your body, sounds strange but can work!!!
Massage all over your head until covered, let sit an hour, then
use a gentle shampoo like baby shampoo & a good follow up
conditioner that is truly good, like Thera-silk or one by Samy!!!
It's all about light shampooing & more conditioning.

Head and Shoulders shampoo works real well. Also, when you shampoo or condition, rinse for a much longer time than you are now. Dandruff starts with not rinsing your hair completely.
