say "our prayers are with her, we really hope she hangs on untill we get back from our cruise" is this wrong or is there something written in the bible saying that born again christians can be as selfish as they want because theyre so high and mighty?
Just wondering because thats exactly what my great grandmothers christian children did . Mabey it was ok because ashe was Catholic...what do you think?

Sorry this was so painful for you. Christians aren't perfect. I can't say why they did that, but even some Christians don't like the dying process or hospitals. It's their loss. It says in Matthew to lay up treasure in heaven, and it sounds like they're enjoying their treasure here on earth, but sometimes there are things going on that we don't really know anything about, so I hesitate to judge them.

I don't think it's wrong. Of course, being the daughter of a travel agent, I know a little bit more about what's involved with travel and all that.

Their trip had been planned in advance. How long had granny been in the hospital? THey either needed some time away or it was too sudden to cancel. I know that when my grandma was in the hospital (she died at the age of 57, so count your lucky stars to have a relative to live to 96), she was there for a long time, always on death's door. If my family had a vacation, we would have taken it.

That doesn't mean we forget about granny. She would have always been in our thoughts, but to stop living each time someone is in the hospital, especially since we don't know if it's in the same state or not (I lived in a different state), is selfish. Your granny isn't alone, she has other family. Obviously you. Don't begrudge your relative a small chance for a vaction.

I don't view this as a "Christian" issue; I view it as a personal issue between your great grandmother and her children. There seems to be a lack of love in that relationship, otherwise they'd have cancelled the cruise.

This issue seems to have nothing to do with religion, and I think you added the hope she hangs on until we get back part. She was 96 on her death bed prayer is fine, they couldn't save her. If there were in her room, it would make no difference.

I think the part about "I hope she 'hangs on' until we get back from our cruise" is REALLY tacky. "Our prayers are with her" would have sufficed.

That was also pretty darned cold. That's their mother.

I would stay with my grandmother if she were dying - that i would be with her. i don't think it's got anything to do with christinaity, just a personal attitude to death.

stop associating everything bad with christians

thanks

I dont quite understand your question. Are you sayin they should have come back from their cruise? If thats what you are inferring then you need a life

Was she dyeing a shirt?

There is nothing to be gained by sitting captive at a bedside waiting for a woman who has lived a full life to expire.
