Some nations think controlling - or censoring - their newspapers is necessary. Some do not. The line between what is acceptable to print varies from nation to nation. The newspapers in the USA do not print pictures of women's breasts, for instance, while it is acceptable to do so in countries where women do not cover themselves. Newspapers in the USA may print cartoons making fun of political and religious leaders. Newspapers in some other countries may not.
The industrialized, developend countries - USA, Canada, UK, Germany, Japan - have relatively free press laws. Undeveloped countries tend to have less freedom, of the press, of speech and so fourth.
