That depends on how much you like it. With a 1080i component input, you can do all sorts of things. If you want the convenience of having HDMI and all that stuff, then you need to upgrade.

You'll probably be fine with your current setup for a while. Besides, strangely enough, some of the newer 1080p TVs still don't accept a 1080p input; they take 1080i and up-convert it to 1080p.[1] Up-converting should make for a better picture, but I don't know that it would be that worthwhile. HDTV will all be broadcast in 720p and 1080i for a while anyways.[2] When it comes to cables you probably won't see a large difference between HDMI and component cables, especially with 1080i. The only things that currently even support 1080p are Blu-ray and HD-DVD and now the PS3 and Xbox 360. If you own one of those components it may be worth looking at a new 1080p TV. Otherwise, like I said, I wouldn't worry about it for a while. But when you do get a new TV, make sure it has an HDMI input that actually accepts full 1080p.

Probably not right now, although prices dropped have dropped a lot since Christmas. If you already have an HD ready TV you'd be better off waiting until there are more full HD TVs around.

If you're mad keen on getting a full HD now, I'd go for the Sharp XD1E or Toshiba WLT66

Though if you are planning on upgrading - I would wait a while as there are a few new technologies coming out at the moment with HDMI connections being improved, plus 1080p TV's are becoming more common and dropping in price - Try and wait until the back end of this Year.

One thing you don't make clear is if your plasma is HD or ED. HD plasma usually has a resolution of 1024 x 768 while ED plasma has a resolution of 854 X 480. If you have an ED plasma it might be worthwhile to step up to an HD unit. Other than that, if you are pleased with the picture, I don't see the need to change yet.

if you are planning to upgrade it is worth considering an HD ready set with HDMI inputs for next generation DVD players/gameplay.
