I sincerely believe that we are populating our planet to death. This has nothing to do with any certain race or nationality, this is about sheer numbers: 7 billion people live on this planet, and like rabbits, we will breed ourselves right into a deadly plague or war.

I also believe that crime, war, hate, and shortages are directly tied to overpopulation. Thoughts?

Think about it. More people require more food, more space, more land, more water, more vehicles, more medications, more space. What benefit can there possibly be from overpopulation, when its purely logical to stop the breeding festival and get population under control, NOW? Famine, plaque, racism, war, food shortages, water shortages all would be directly affected if populate growth were stopped and reversed.

I ought to disagree. Granted, if the human inhabitants grew indefinately, we'd at last outstrip components. yet our international inhabitants boost value is declining--and the inhabitants is envisioned to stabilize at approximately 11 billion formerly the top of the century. The question is, of direction, is that too many? although this is not an undemanding the two/or answer. If we ontinue with using fossil fuels, pollutants, and unwise land use regulations--then confident--it is way too many human beings. yet, we've already got technologies that would ascertain maximum of those issues--and are coming up greater. the secret's additionally having the know-how to enforce those technologies--and how our civilization fares finally relies upon on that. you moreover might reported that conflict, crime, and so on are brought about by ability of overpopulation. The historic checklist says otherwise. Crime--homicide, theft, and so on-have been recent in each and every human society--as has conflict. and intensely few wars--or crimes--might properly be traced,, even in a roundabout way--to source shortages brought about by ability of overpopulation. And as for hate--tha'ts no longer derived from overpopulation, yet from human greed and choose for potential. Shortages have often times been using overpopulation--yet at present they hint to clutter united statesin our systems of distribution--using interferance on the area of political or economic particular pastimes--entirely preventable and have no longer something to due with inhabitants.

I have to disagree. Granted, if the human population grew indefinately, we'd eventually outstrip resources. But our world population growth rate is declining--and the population is expected to stabilize at about 11 billion before the end of the century.

The question is, of course, is that too many? But it's not a simple either/or answer. If we ontinue with the use of fossil fuels, pollution, and unwise land use policies--then yes--that's way too many people. But, we already have technologies that can resolve most of these problems--and are developing more. The key is also having the wisdom to implement those technologies--and how our civilization fares ultimately depends on that.

You also said that war, crime, etc are caused by overpopulation. The historical record says otherwise. Crime--murder, theft, etc-have been present in every human society--as has war. And very few wars--or crimes--can be traced,, even indirectly--to resource shortages caused by overpopulation. And as for hate--tha'ts not derived from overpopulation, but from human greed and desire for power.

Shortages have occasionally been due to overpopulation--but in this day and age they trace to failures in our systems of distribution--due to interferance on the part of political or economic special interests--entirely preventable and have nothing to due with population.

Is overpopulation the source of Earth's problems? No. Earth doesn't have problems, and nature will always continue to exist and thrive, even if we create problems for our own survival.

Is overpopulation a source of humans' problems? Yes!! We could do with a world population of 1 or 2 billion.

In 1968 Paul Ehrlich wrote the best selling book "The Population Bomb", which said, “The battle to feed all of humanity is over. In the 1970s and 1980s hundreds of millions of people will starve.” My high school chemistry teacher predicted famine in America by 1980. The 1980s came and went but we are no worse off than we were in 1968.

Now Al Gore has made the hit movie "An Inconvenient Truth". In 40 years everyone will forget about that too. Global Warming will happen, some ice will melt, sea levels will rise a little, and life will go on.

Beg pardon... Overpopulation is homo sapiens problem, not Earths. If mankind was completely wiped out in the next week, the Earth would destroy most of the evidence of his existence within a few hundred years.... and the duckies and bunnies could take over...

Birthing babies is just as natural and proper, as eating or breathing or the heart beating. People should not have to use any birth control. Huge numbers of people have practical, cultural, philosophical, and religious objections to all methods of birth control. Pregnancy is a natural and healthy condition. A life-giving vital body function. We can no more limit how many times people get pregnant, than we can limit how many times they can go pee or take a breathe of air. Human fertility is very hard to control, and human populations seem to grow so easily. What more evidence do we need, that we shouldn't even try to restrain the natural growth of our numbers? Population accommodation only. Encourage large families worldwide, growing naturally without the nasty and unnatural birth control.

Have to agree, we always have the same problems, but now we don't have enough room to get away from them! Or maybe it's that humans are the problem, the more we have, the bigger the problem.
