Hi Rob,
Isee what you mean.
As an ex-Major in the Military, that I am, functioning with a swimming pool, snooker tables, bars, boats, and any weekend vehicle that you fancied from MT., In the Mid-East. It all seemed over the top in expense. Oh the golf club as well.!
I, of course, did not grumble. Selfish I suppose.
You are correct in thinking that Officers have a cushy life-style, at the UK tax-payers expense.
I hope that I have not revealed any secrets, but I do object to men of the line, having a hard time of it, while certain folks sit back next to a barbeque, with a scotch & cigar, and state "jolly good chaps out there" !
It is all nonesense, so I packed it all up, and went to work as a military advisor.
Now I am happy.
Cheers,
Bob.

No I don't agree. Instead why don't MPs cut down their own perks such as the subsidised restaurant and bar they have available to them in Westminster. They could also stop using taxpayers money to prop up their pension scheme and pay more into it themselves. Also council workers and civil servants could also start paying slightly higher contributions to their pensions thus reducing the burden on the tax payer. Brown should stop continually dreaming up ever more benefits to give people. This would all go to help give our troops the extra equipment that they need.
I think the cadet force is a great idea and the kids that go enjoy it. It also helps keeps some of them off the streets.

There are clear danger signals in our military. We have these cuts and depriving our men, while China is beefing up their military at an unprecedented and alarming rate.., not to mention developed a new stealth sub that can place a nuke any place on Earth even while sitting at home port. I wont even drag their new threat (a Satellite killing satellite) they just recently launched and it works!
We are currently not in a position to defend this country should a country like China decide to invade. I also ignored the threat from Russia who has a new nuke delivery system that carries multiple nukes and can evade our Defensive Shield program with ease.
The recent mock Nuke War against the United States held in a joint Russia / China exercises is another clear concern. One of our brilliant military brass invited the Chinese military leaders to view our military exercises supposedly to make them fearful of our might. Instead the idiot just gave them valuable tactical information which they can now plan around.
We have bonefide dangerous minds in our government and in our military. Its not just a Democrat or Republican issue. Both sides have their share of mindless buffoons. Things as they are, America would not stand a Chance in a sudden global conflict.

The current budget is 28 billion, it sounds a lot but that has to feed, cloth, and accomodate all our troops plus everything else. Our 1 mini aircraft carrier only runs on 1 engine to save money and we only have 22 planes on our aircraft carrier. America have 14 big aircraft carriers that carry 90 planes each. We need to defend our interests and need a military which includes one of the most advanced and largest navies in the world. It's our heratige and we can't let Nelson down.

does not it is a sturdy theory if, despite the fee variety grew to become into, the rustic's protection stress commanders have been given the alternative how the money grew to become into spent? there is £100000000000 worth of reductions to be made with the help of removing trident. nonetheless, we could desire to preserve out of date weapons platforms, so smart issues like protection stress helicopters could desire to bypass i'm afraid. Labour electorate agreed with the tories on that, so claiming that as some form of severe floor seems difficult to justify. Labour ministers *have been* putting troops' lives in risk with the help of failing to grant sufficient of the tremendously manoeuvrable airplane. Had the LibDems have been given extra effective than sixteen% of the administration interior government, possibly they had have had sufficient capability to extra desirable organise defence spending priorities.

Or how about axing all the jobsworth that work in the M.O.D, Hoem Office etc and stop giving criminals and asylum seekers all the mod cons that those that work cannot even afford. the money saved will be more than enough to ensure that our soldiers have the best equipment to fight a war that Blair and his lies sent them to!

Our troops at risk should have the equipment they need to survive, or they should be brought home. If we can't afford to equip them, we shouldn't put them at risk.

I agree the troops should have every tool they need at their disposal.
Which if we cutback or do away with welfare and stop supporting illegals they'd have what they need.
