The largest U.S. airport is Denver International in terms of area the airport covers.

In terms, of number of passengers and number of plane movements through the airport, the answer is Atlanta Hartsfield Airport. Chicago O'Hare use to be the busiest but with FAA request to the airlines to reduce their schedule to decrease the numerous delays at the airport.

The largest airport in terms of landmass in the U.S. is the Denver Airport, (DEN).

Last year, 2006, Atlanta was the busiest in terms of aircraft movements. Chicago was slightly, by only a few thousand, in terms of passengers.

O'Hare in Chicago is the busiest...it used to have a plane landing or taking off every 27 seconds.

You asked the Largest, the answers are saying the busiest. O'Hara is huge. I was their once on the way to Hawaii; it took forever to get from one plane to another. I haven't been to very many of them.

Atlanta- anyone ever had to walk form the "T" terminal to the "E" terminal? Ugh
LAX is pretty huge too- I once had to walk from gate 1 to gate 630
