I am sure that there are, but I am also sure that they are not OPENLY atheist/agnostic, because making that publicly known would completely ruin their chances of ever getting elected. A lot of Catholic Americans care more about beliefs than how competent someone is as a politician and with Catholics being a huge majority in the U.S., no openly atheist/agnostic will get elected into an important position any time soon. Some states even have a law that says that atheists can't run for public office.

No in fact it is illegal in some states and polls say that people would vote for a gay politician over an Atheist. Pretty F***ed up S***. I think it should be mandated that they must be gay & Atheist to run for office.

If they're a well educated and intelligent sample of the population then undoubtedly there are some in congress, however they'll have had to lie about it to get elected by their superstitious and ignorant electorate.

They wouldn't make point to tell everyone here. Many people wouldn't vote for them just because of that. But I am equally sure that there are.
