I had my bedroom painted in a color called "Rainwashed" by Sherman Williams. The lower half of the bedroom walls I did with decorative paneling painted "Heron Plume", also by Sherwin Williams. They are very soothing colors.

The walls in my bedroom are candy pink. It's beautiful. I'm not sure if it would work for a man in the house but I'm a girl and it works for me. It really brightens up the room (of course, if you're down and don't like bright colours then this won't be your choice).

I painted my bedroom walls a pale yellow. I found that this not only brightened the room but depending on accents colors could make it bright and cheery or in winter warm and inviting. I used sage green and burnt orange colors in spring and summer..pillows, throws, silk flowers, etc. For cooler months I would use golds, burgandy and taupe accents...which gives a feeling of warmth yet cozy. Play with colors you would be amazed at how it can affect you're state of mind.

I have painted my walls cream, and have bought a fawn carpet, that way when I want to change the colour of my room, I only have to buy a new duvet cover and curtains. If I thought of that years ago, I could have saved myself a fortune.

Our bedroom is a soft sage green color. If you have a favorite color (mine is green), then consider a soft version of it. Just remember that dark colors tend to make the room feel smaller, while lighter colors make it feel bigger. But if you want a darker, bolder color, then painting the ceiling a white or off-white will help open up the room.

When I built my house I couldn't do plastering so they are a grey brick colour. Don't copy my example as the dust lies in the cracks and my wife is fed up with the colour
