They think that because of the way the accent sounds, British men are smarter/more sophisticated, and they know their girlfriends think that way too, so they don't want them to get anywhere near you, because they are also insecure and think that if you see something "better", you will bail out. That is partly because of players from this country, who do just that. I personally think British women sound sexy as hell, so I see where they are coming from.

The accent. Every woman I've ever known has told me how sexy the British accent is.
I'm a 27 year old American guy and I can't resist a woman with the British accent either.
