If possible you both go the the Department of Motor Vehicles and reregister the vehicle in the new owners name.

If not possible, you do the bill of sale and give the new owner 1-2 days to reregister.

Me, If I can't go with, then the car stays put until they come and show the reregistration. I don't want anything to happen while my name is on that car... too many lawyers trying to make people millionaires

After settling on the price, you should get a Bill of Sale and fill it out. Pay the owner for the vehicle and have the bill of sale notarized. In Florida, you have up to 30 days to purchase tag after sale. If you are stopped or pulled over by the law, show them the bill of sale and title to vehicle if you have it. Make sure the owner gives you the title to the vehicle if you buy it, and make sure there isn't a lean on the vehicle. (money owed on it) It needs to be paid of by present owner.
