about 3 miles away with two main roads and housing estate in the way. I usually take 1 minute to walk down the stairs in my house?

I was going to bus it, but according to the bus hotline, there is not a bus going up there. What time shall i leave? I need to be there by 2.30 and its now 12.15pm. And no taxis are expensive.

Amazing! Peter o - can you really walk at about 10 MPH?
K - you can walk at 6 MPH with a bad hip and knee can you?
The simple truth is that an average walking speed for an average person is 3 MPH. So 3 miles is one hour or thereabouts.
A fast walker can manage 4 MPH - but they would arrive pretty hot and sweaty after 3 miles.

if you walk at a brisk pace and you are fit you should manage about 3-4 miles per hour.but allow extra so yes about an hour and 15 mins should do it. but if you take a minute to walk down the stairs in your house then i think unless you have a great deal of stairs you will not have time even if you leave now.
as at that rate i m not even sure you walking at about one mile an hour and in any case i think the journey will be too far for you.

It takes me 15 minutes to walk a mile and a half up hill (the roads are very narrow, with lots of bends and speeding large vehicles) - I have got a bad hip and knee, which gets even worse in the cold weather. So allow 40 minutes

The average person walks about 3 miles per hour, so it should take you 1 hour and 1 minute.
