I will not christen my children, just as I was not christened. Kids need to find religion on their own - I'm glad that I had the freedom to find what suited me.

The first time I actually read any part of the bible was about 8 years ago, and I read Revelations. Yeah, not having a clue of what it meant but it made enough since to scare me and made me decide I don't want to go to hell. My first motives for turning to God were to stay out of Hell, but all that has changed over the years as I got more and more into the word. I became interested and needed to know more, pretty soon I wanted more of God in my life and I came to understand why Jesus did what he did and I was grateful. Now, I'm not scared of Satan or Hell but I do fear the Lord knowing he is the one with the power to sentence me to life everafter or eternal fire. I choose life.

my parents never christened me, or my brother and sister, they wanted us to find a religion for us, not coz everyone else,
my boyfriend is a christen, and he wants me to be one, so i can get married in a church, but i said no, he wasnt too happy about it, but i wont get pushed into something, i dont want,
i have been in a church a few times, with my boyfriend's family for a wedding, and it had all the religion things with it, and i was so bored in my life, i keep looking at the door, as i wanted to leave, and there was singing from the book, and i never even heard the song before,

MY daughter was christened in the Catholic church as I was and my family going back countless generations, I am not "scared" of religion, please see the reference to faith in the Catholic encyclopedia if you are sincere about understanding my motives, Christianity has a beautiful message of hope and redemption in a sometimes bleak world, you sound so sarcastic, may God heal your soul...peace be with you.

I used to say religion uses "scare tactics". But I've realized the
people in those days were fearless. They fought wild animals
and nature on a daily basis. And they needed to be taught in that
way.
The error is in still trying to use those scare tactics, as humans
tend to take everything to extremes, being emotional beings.
I would have to say that too many are being scared "away" from
religion today.

i was born a Sikh - parents never pushed me into it, but the past 10 years i have researched and found that i don't believe in it.
what i do believe in is Christianity but not mainstream.
i take the bible for what it is because it explains everything about the world and why it is in the state it is.
you should do whats true to your heart - fear God because He is almighty but remember he loves you no matter what.
get you children christened if that whats true to you - don't do things out of fear, do them because you love your god and that's what he wants you to do, not because you have to or.......

When I was young and ignorant and religious, I was fearful of my soul not going to heaven and burning in perdition.
But now lol. I think its nice to be christened. But being hardcore and all...i hate those. Sometimes, most of those who are pious, are you know, of the opposite of the deeds they do.
Free up your minds!

its easy as a young kid to be scared into religion beacuse of the thaught of dieing. once that has happened it can be hard to get out of religion. but if you can break back out you realise that there is nothing to be afraid of. death does not degrade thaught, love or happiness at all just because it is finite, but instead it makes it even more special

Not I.
Although I sometimes find it scary and even unhealthy that some people do believe what they do, religion or no.

No, but there is no harm in having your child Christened, they can always change their religion later if they want to.........
