I once lived on Freedom Street.
I believe that to be free you first must be able to be alone.
If you can live your life completely alone in the world you will be the master of your own destiny.
Once you have learned this skill you are able to choose the relationships that will have the most meaning in your life and provide the most meaning to others.
Removing yourself from interactions that are out of your control allows you a perspective that enables you to understand the dynamics of relationships, the good and the bad.
Only others can confine you, only you can set yourself free.

Being free means having the ability to make any personal decision (note: actions that hurt other people are no longer personal) without punishment of fear thereof.

If people truly had free will from a divine creator (as Christians believe), then no one would ever be punished by plagues, floods, genocides, hell, or anything else you find in the bible.

If you were in jail and someone bailed you out, you would be free. After we each sinned at some point in our lives, we condemned ourselves to hell. Jesus bailed us out. Now that's free.

Don't apply anyone's thoughts to your life but God's. You get them in the Bible. Every single person on the planet will disappoint you.
