The Indigo Girls song: Nuevas Senoritas.

What exactly does "nueva" mean in this context? The dictionary I have gives several slighthly different translations, each of which changes the song slightly.

we blew off immigration
the moon was sitting high
we drove from lacandon into comitan
and gloria was singing
and cecelia closed her eyes
and i saw them
drifting out over the night sky

i said neuva senoritas
are you gone to brighter days
have you found your greener valley
and the place where your heart stays

i'm headed back to the flatlands
and you're headed up to the hills
rain brings you home middle of july
i guess i just got lonesome
when i think about how you feel
six months gone
and no one to dry your eyes

[repeat chorus x2]

Or I would settle for Amy Ray's phone number ... *sigh*

It means:

new young ladies

Nueva always means new. The only difference is that the spelling is sometimes different because you have to identify masculine or feminine. In this case señoritas is feminine because it has an "a" toward the end. Therefore you must make nuevo to nueva. (nuevo being the masculine form). Also Senoritas is plural. Therefore you must also make nueva plural. Thus you will have nuevas. Understand? If the noun was masculine, like bathroom. In Spanish bathroom is ......baño. There is an "o" at the end so therefore you must put an "o" at the end of nuevo. If it were bathrooms or plural then you also add a S to make ....nuevos. The only exception to this rule is that there are a couple nouns that end in "o" that are feminine. Like hand. Or in Spanish it would be mano. therefore, to say new hand would be ....Nueva mano.
