it may be an .rar file which is an archived file almost like a zip file which you will need to "unzip" prior to opening.
find programs online to open it with and and it will be fine.

Need more information as to what u have downloaded.
If it's a video file then there's a probability that you don't have the correct codecs.Download K-lite codec pack or any other codec pack and install it.

If tha above doesn't work then u might wanna check the kind of file here.
