Should i be concerned? I was told that bitches come into season at 6 months. Other people have said she is quite small for a Labrador, could this be affecting her growth? On the other hand people have also said she is big, i'm not to concerned about her size i'm more concerned with her coming into season. Advice please

He's still a puppy and it will take a while until he learns what you expect of him. The digging, jumping and biting are all puppy things that you need to train him not to do. Usually excessive barking is due to boredom which could very well be if he is left alone for 8 hours a day. Training him for 20 minutes a day is not really productive. Puppies attention spans are about 5 minutes to 10 minutes max. Anything after that is a waste of time and he is not learning anything. Try shorter training sessions and more of them. The digging is a trait of labs, and maybe you should make an area up in your yard where he can dig. Get like a small sandbox, fill it with sand and let him dig there to his heart content. When he digs somewhere else, say no, and put him in his box where he is allowed to dig. This may help with that. The jumping and biting is just bad behavior that needs to be treated with training. If you are unsure of how to train your pup, find a local trainer to help give you some tips on training.

Hi,
It varies with B!tches, some will be in season early others later, there are no hard and fast rules with seasons,
From around 6 months you should be keeping an eye on her,but as a general rule they can come into season from 6-12 months old.

Its perfectly normal not to see her have her season yet.The average age for a female to come into season is between 6-9months but not all females do.Depending on her family history she may be a late maturer, when did her mum first have her season?Normally a female will be very simlar to how there mum's seasons were,so dont worry. My female only comes into season once a year with a gap of about 9months or more and she had her first season at 10months.

the 6 month rule is basically for small dogs. larger dogs take longer to develop as well as mature. big dogs (danes, saints, mastiffs and the like) are not fully "grown", filled out, etc. until 2-3 yrs old. be patient. she should probably come in by the time she's a year old or so. remember, once she does, it's like a teenager and she probably wont grow too much more after that. and PLEASE>>>>> don't plan on breeding her then, if you do, wait until she's ATLEAST 2 yrs old. we don't like to see pregnant teens do we???

Round about anytime NOW!!! But don't be too alarmed if she hasn't just yet...Millie had her first season when she was approx 7and half months then she had a few mini seasons....if she is happy andhealthy then don't be too worried....but if this is really bothering you, why not give your local vets a call and ask for advice...sure they will say the same thing but it may put your mind at rest!!

It varies from breed to breed and from b1tch to b1tch, my 10 month old GSD b1tch has just come into her first season, all my others have come in at about 8-9 months, so don't worry about it some mature sooner than other that's all.

Have you had her checked out by a vet to see if there is a problem? It could be at any time now. Do you know the great health benefits of spaying, especially before the first heat? Type in "health benefits of spaying" and check out the wealth of info.
