if holyspirit already existed during Jesus time, then the comforter is someone new.

look carefuly at this verse:
John 16:7
Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
he is unknown yet:
John 14:17
Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
this is an evidence that Jesus here is talking about someone different than the holyspirit that many christians have been taught it's. Jesus here is talking about someone new will tesitfy of Jesus.

The Holy Spirit is the only comforter that Jesus was talking about. The Holy Spirit was sent after Jesus died. The bible says there can only be a testament if the testator has died.

He WAS talking about the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit had not yet come to be with His disciples because He had not yet gone to the Father in heaven. The Holy Spirit was to come and strengthen His followers after He left.

No that is the same Holy Spirit, but this is the indwelling of the Spirit, God's Spirit living in a Christian. There are different annointing of the same Spirit.
