English is one of the hardest because there are so many rules and exceptions to the rules.
I find other languages easy to learn.
English is my first language.

My first language is Welsh,I did not speak English properly until I was around 7.When you're a child, learning languages is much easier.I only speak English now when I have to,living as I do in a mostly (80%) Welsh speaking area.I can get on reasonably well in French and am in the process of learning Portuguese. It opens new horizons..contrary to what many English people believe, not everyone speaks English(thank goodness).

No, English is not my first language, it's my third language.

At first it was a bit hard for me to learn it, but I blame that on the fact that my teacher was really not good at teaching. A couple of years later when I got a better teacher it became easy for me to learn English better and I speak it fluently now.

English is a much simpler language than my native language, so it was easier to learn English than most other languages I've learned so far (I speak 8 now).

Difficult one - before I was born and even before I learnt to speak a language for this planet, I guess I was speaking another tongue.

But I was born in UK and I am English, this time round!

Some people born to parents of different nationalities are often taught both languages from birth, and maybe even a third if the family is living in a non native country at the time their offspring is born.

Born English. It's kinda strange how we learn the language naturally and as native speakers don't notice most of the rules that those coming from other languages find hard to adjust to. At work there is a Latvian who I help with his English sometimes, aswell as a Polish friend I have and some of the things they ask about I find it quite difficult to explain because it just comes naturally to me and have never asked myself why we use certain words.

English is not my first language but was the only lanuage allowed when I went to school. Finding myself on the business end of a Glasgow Tawse as a five year old was a great incentive to learn the language quickly. I would say now that I have a native level of fluency.

I am a native of England and although I speak a little German I am essentially a monoglot. I really admire others of any race who are bi-lingual and multi-lingual, especially if they have had to learn and be taught English as a second language.

But one thing I have noticed is that people who are initially foreign to the English language actually develop an excellent knowledge of it and have a very good command of it. Bollywood Actress Shilpa Shetty is a good example of this. She speaks it far better than her some of her contemporaries who are natives of England.

Nope! It's my third language.
I'm Egyptian, so my native language is Arabic. And I went to a German School, so my first language is German. And there I also learned English as a third language and French as a fourth one.

It wasn't that hard. In Egypt many people speak different languages fluently. I guess Egyptians have this ability by nature hehe. Moreover we watch American movies, read American magazines and listen to American/European songs all the time. That improves your language more than you know.

English isn't my first language. I forced my self to learn it because I travel all the time & I wanted to be able to communicate with people.
& honestly I learned English also because when I was young I use to watch way to much TV but I couldn't understand anything because all the shows were in English. I wanted to understand what all my favourite actors were saying so I started translating every word I didn't understand.
I still have some problems with Grammar though.

English is a fascinating language. I learnt English as a third language in my school. It is bit daunting to learn. And it has a completely different grammatical form to my first language.I recondite that people who got a language which is smiler to English grammar will learn English quickly than the others.
