I'm an atheist. I've always been an atheist, so it was never really a "decision", but learning about various religions and reading the Bible made me even more certain that atheism is right for me.

1 - logical consistency. I see other religions and their works, and they might have been good for the times (especially in the 'backgrounds' or 'lead-ups') but they don't help when we look at the ever expanding universe and the questions that science allows us to answer. Such as, if JC did come back, wouldn't it be fairly logical to ask such questions as: how does Quantum Mechanics work? From the little I've seen, such 'revealed' religions aren't too likely to help with that - and especially if we find life on other planets which are just as, or more so, intelligent and 'spiritually aware' as ourselves - how do those religions deal with such a thing???? not to my satisfaction. I get answers that other religions are unable to supply.
2 - personal experience! I am a Shamanic Druid, and as such, my personal beliefs are cemented by having experiences which can be either mirrored, or affirmed, by the 'outside' world (as in, it is more than either just 'faith', or 'made up to fit'). For example, many years ago, I was told a certain set of numbers that would win a certain horse race - 3 numbers - that's all!! Those 3 numbers gave me a trifecta win. It hasn't happened since, and it didn't happen before. so - is it 'co-incidence', or has something 'real' happened?? You can tell which I go with!

I decided that I was a Witch the day that that I witnessed true Magick in action, the day I first felt it flowing through my veins and the day that I felt the power of White Magick at work all around me by my doing. I do not believe that my religion foresakes all other religions however, I believe that any religion is true if you truely believe it.

I was born muslim, grew up in a christian country and had the opportunity to study different religions, but I have decided for myself that no religion is better than the other. I do believe in God and I believe there are many different ways to express your belief. I respect them all.

I became a Christian when I was born into a family of Christians. Now, I still believe in God, but I don't really want to consider myself a Christian. A true believer in God does not believe in the religion itself.

im atheist but my view...
i think most of people do not really choose their religion as they are born and apt to study , they are taught the dogma of the family's religion....
suppose u are born in a Christian family....u receive a good Christian teaching, so ur more likely to remain Christian...cuz he have learn to believe and follow Christianity...thats simple..
when u read the bible, the koran, the torah...u are being convinced that your religion is right....
but think that people do not really choose their religion...they usually adopt the religion followed by their ancestors...
but for those who have been converted, they had been stongly persuaded by priests or missionaries

I find enlightenment in the Church of the SubGenius, Discordianism, and Buddhism. They're not right for everyone; there is no single correct path, and Pinks are genetically inferior animals who can never become SubGenii. Whatever leads you to enlightenment is your "right religion."

Never believed that Jesus was the son of God. Even questioned it at the alter during prayer once. Eventually dropped out of church; some years later became muslim.

My "religion" is right for me... as they are my beliefs, gained thru personal experience... and not from someone else telling me what to believe. I don't forsake all others... there is Truth everywhere, you just gotta dig thru the crap to find it. As for what made me decide, study and a lot of soul searching.

I went to a youth camp for christians and felt a heavy presence telling me to repent and give my life over. I became very emotional. I have also had times when I needed stuff and God helped me immediately. For instance when I was really down and a friend offered to pray for me and I asked God that they would just help me pray about a certain topic and guess what- the very next hting they prayed about was the thing that I had needed help with. I also got really frustrated one day that I couldn't open a bottle of coke, the cap was on too tight and I tried EVERYTHING. then I got real frustrated and siad come on LORD please I really really want some.!! And with the very next try I got the bottle open with ease. This just shows me that God exists and even the silliest things, he hears me and also because I can talk to Jesus and get angry with Jesus and God and know that they still love me. I mean who do you know that would get nailed to a cross for you.
