Actually, you have a complex enough situation to need experienced help. go to www.irs.gov and type in VITA in the search box (top right hand corner). Depending on your age, you may also qualify for TCE. Search that too.

If you are living together as husband and wife, you may well have to report that to the SSA but that is an entirely different matter.

Yes you have to file because you had income in 2006. I've never received SSI or a pension, but it seems to me those are both included as income sources.

You will let the IRS know you are living with him by the address you put on your forms. This, however, will have no effect on your taxes because you are no longer married. You're just roommates. How you split household expenses at this point is just about your own equitable arrangement between the two of you and won't affect your taxes as far as the government is concerned.

Hope this helps! There may be free assistance in your community to help filers do all the forms they need. Maybe call your local library and see if they know of any free help available.

ok you itemized. Did you itemize the state taxes or take sales tax? in case you itemize the state taxes then you definitely in all hazard did get a make the main of the state earnings tax and the refund should be further back. (check out your 2006 tax return. in case you had claimed $3 hundred much less in state earnings taxes, could your tax refund have decreased? confident, then this is taxable.) If this is taxable, wait till closer to 4/15 and report an amended return.

judging from your spelling, you should probably take your taxes to an accountant to have them done instead of risk doing your own. Sometimes some places also offer free services for people who don't make a lot. Check out the local university to see if anything like that is going to be offered.
