There are several kinds of "oatmeal" in the US. There's instant, which often comes in individual packets. It's finely ground, so all you have to do is add hot water and wait a few minutes. There's the Quick Oats kind that takes about three minutes to cook. There's old-fashioned oatmeal, which takes about five minutes to cook. And there's steel-cut oats, which takes 10 to 20 minutes to cook. Most recipes call for the quick oats, or three-minute version. You can also use old-fashioned, but it will be chewier than the quick oats. The instant oats are almost like oat flour, and can be used, but won't give the right texture. I wouldn't recommend using the steel cut oats.

I would presume so, just normal porridge oats, not processed as in Ready Brek.

I think you call oat meal Porridge, so that would be oats, so I'm guessing "YES"
