I'm going to make some good old Vodka Jelly for party. It sounds really silly but how do I make it? Obviously I cant make it all with Vodka but how much do I put in? Also its a family party so I dont want it to be TOO strong!
Cheers in advance! x

Vodka Jellies
Serves 4
Preparation time: 5 minutes, plus overnight chilling
Ingredients
250ml vodka
135g pack fruit jelly
Instructions
Cut up the jelly and dissolve it in 150ml boiling water. Add 200ml cold water and the vodka, to make up 600ml. Pour into ice-cube trays and leave in the fridge overnight to set.

Basically you mix the jelly as you would normally, only using 80% of the recommended liquid. Substitute 40% of the liquid for vodka, and the remaining 40% hot water, and mix until all jelly has melted away. Pour into ice cube containers, shot glasses, or a bowl will suffice and allow to set in the fridge. It depends on your fridge, but a few hours should be fine - but make well in advance.

Next is the fun part....drinking it. Well it's not so much drinking it as letting it slide down your throat. Don't worry you won't taste the vodka in it, the jelly is nice though. Don't eat too much, remember how much vodka is in it.

Use a packet of flavoured jelly. Mix the jelly in a little hot water to start as normal. I would probably use no more than 1/3 water and the rest vodka. Make sure you make them about 2 days in advance or they won't set in time.

Using a normal jelly packet change half water for half vodka any more then that as a ratio and you need to set it in the freezer as the fridge does not get cold enough to set the alcohol.

Good luck and enjoy.

Jello Shooters
Just substitute the water with vodka and follow same directions...you could pour into little paper shot cups then refrigerate...little less maitenance and a little more fun.

I've never heard of Vodka Jelly.
Do you mean Jello shots? If you do, you just make regular jello, but substitute part of the water for vodka.

Label it or warn the family! It would be quite a shock getting vodka on my morning toast!
