I quit cold turkey 6 years ago. One thing that really helped me, was to clean my car, inside and out and with baking soda rug freshener. My biggest problem was those places where I would light up regularly, like in my car. It's like your brain knows 'this is where I smoke. I need to be smoking.' By getting as much of the smoke smell out of my car as possible, it cut down on that impulse. Plus it was kind of a closure ritual. Go to different places, and try to stay away from the bars or places where you used to smoke. Keep busy. plan what you will buy with the money you're going to save, and reward yourself!

You can do it!

Best thing to do is to take it one hour at a time and don't think about later on in the day or the next day. I keep reminding myself my reasons for quitting and I keep on hand suckers and pretzels. Which is helpful. When a craving comes on, the craving only lasts for 3-5 minutes. I just take a couple of deep breaths of fresh air and know that it will pass. And as each hour passes, I keep telling myself that I make it past this hour then I can make it through another hour. And also to keep my mind occupied I do stuff like wash clothes, curtains and wipe away all the nicotine smell.

It has been almost five years since I quit, didit cold turkey after smoking for 31 years. I set my sights on a special trip for two months after I quit ., used the money I would have spent on smokes to fund this trip. Still smoke free , good Luck.

my fella's been smoking for years and everytime he's quit he's gone right back into smoking again, this time thouh he really wants to quit and he feels ready to quit, and so far 2 weeks down the line he hasn't had a smoke since, so my advice to you is..... quit when your ready.... when you feel good about yourself and then you shouldnt slip back into your old habits :) if you feel the need eat a sweet, or chew some chewy or have some choc. good luck

part of it is your frame of mind.

when you quit......let's say, your state of mind was that you were leaving something "near and dear" to you behind. so you're bound to miss something so dear to you.........yeah?
if you feel that you are deprived of something, there needs to be something else that helps you to forget about it.

so, for you, what would that be? well. i guess that's food for thought. so i'll let you ponder it.
