Hello,
(ANS) Dont underestimate the value of something like General Studies, why? because here in the west (UK) most of our education system is incredibly targetted towards specific types of learning, usually in quite specialised areas too.
**You could argue that General Studies goes some way towards redressing this balance away from specialist subjects like science, biology, maths, english, etc Towards a wider view of life, culture and the world beyond our own cossy shores?
**A good general knowledge does have a value in the wider scheme of life, I've been totaly amazed at the breadth & depth of my own knowledge since doing Yahoo answers (I never realised I knew so many things, its really suprised me & helped me to think differently about myself). Perhaps a general studies A level isnt as useless as you think?
Best Regards IR

some extra points for 3hour of exams and no study
Just do it it might help, dont stress abt it.
I did it and its no use but some of my friends include it for their total ucas points.
It also tries to balance you out eg if your doing just science subjects, general studies shows you can cope with both even if its not a university requirement.

Well, it gets you an extra A-level for no work at all! I got a grade A, and we hardly had any actual lessons, and I just wrote a load of old toot on my exam paper! But it counted when I was applying to universities!

I think it's supposed to be to prove to whoever wants to know that you can be an all-rounder, not just a specialist.Potential employers find it attractive. Grit your teeth pal !!!!

To broaden your knowlege and education beyond the specific subjects you have chosen. To help make you and your education more 'rounded'.
