I 'm really really tired of stupid people saying bruce lee can't fight, he's only an actor.

Use your common sense, being a martial arts film star you are doomed to receive challenges from other martial artist who are skeptical of you. There have been numerous challenges in his lifetime where he beat the other challengers...(judo, jiujitsu, karate, other kungfu practitioners getting angry at him for teaching his skills in the west)

During the shooting of the movie, "The Big Boss",in Thailand, while Bruce was off camera resting, the local gangs who were trained muay thai fighters was skeptical of his skills and provoked him into a fight, Bruce took them all out, (1 on 4 or 1 on 7, cant remember) <--not friendly sparring exchange, this is real fight.

Is he the best I dont' know, but he's definitely THE **** !!

Some of u UFC audience show some respects please, Afterall he's father of MMA. even Dana White said it. or i'ma call Walker,Texas Ranger & have y'all arrested.

Great question! I totally agree with you. Reading the Tao of Jeet Kune Do I was suprised to see so many Brazilian Jiu Jitsu submissions in there. He was well versed in all martial arts and was quite an amazing fighter as well as a talented actor. I enjoyed growing up watching his movies. They were always my favorites. It is also not commonly known that while in Asia he would often get his foot stomped 3 times which was the typical way to challenge someone to a fight. He engaged in many street fights with skilled trained opponents and won them all. He lived his life as a martial artist first even though the general populace may think him not and only a movie actor.

Despite Lee's legendary status and the impression you would get from his fans that believed him to be unconqerable, he was only a man. But was he JUST an actor? Definetly not. He was a writer, director, he majored in philosophy in college, there is plenty of documented footage proving that he was a martial artist, he was a teacher, and there is plenty of testimony making it clear that Bruce was a pretty tough dude. Bruce started training in Wing Chun when he was 13 years old and continued training up until he died at age 33. Thats proof enough that he was a trained martial artist, in addition to being an actor as well. As far as his 1 on 1 fighting/sparring skill goes: many people say that he was about average. He just wasn't a sport fighter or a fighting competitor. He believed in a different fighting method; one without any rules, and thats what he eventually started practicing. People like Bruce understand something more important than people like you. Its nothing mystical, but its something that you need to sort of figure out on your own. But he was just a man, and yes he could have gotten beat by Norris, Sherk, Liddel.

No one doubts that Bruce Lee had talent, but martial arts has evolved so far from even 10 years ago that single-minded disciplines have little chance of success. To win in today's larger-scale matches, you need to be rounded in wrestling, striking, and submission, and Bruce Lee was primarily a striker. So, I don't think he's being disrespected as much as people are saying that the sport has evolved. Look at what happened to the vaunted Royce Gracie when he fought Matt Hughes...
