When I lived in Singapore 40 years ago the first thing I noticed was that when the Bin Men came round there was nothing to collect , it had all been collected by recyclers , the food waste for their poultry ,newspapers for the paper industry , tins for other uses .This was recycling driven by necessity and perhaps that is what we need.

Hi,

I would say prehistoric man or indigenous tribes.

These groups of people while their numbers were not high to make an impact on the environment learned to use everything (i.e. meat for eating, bones for tools and weapons, fur for clothing).

Essentially everything was used or recycled (used again), as they could not afford to waste.

No idea, but in feudal Japan they had a society where they reused and recycled as much as possible....then we introduced them to consumerism and capitalism!

We shouldn't think so much of recycling but more about reusing and consuming less!
