A Black Muslim is a member of a particular sect, the Nation of Islam, founded by Eliajah Mohammad in Chicago. It's currently headed by Louis Farakhan. It was part of the black power movement in the 1960's and 1970's, and differs from traditional Islam in many respects. A black person can be any type of Muslim: Sunni, Shiite, Wahabbi, etc. or they can be a member of the Nation of Islam.
