The largest aircraft in the world is the Antonov An-225 Mriya. Making its maiden flight in 1988, it was built to transport the Soviet Union’s space shuttle Buran. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Antonov 225 did not fly for years until May, 2001, when a 15-minute test flight was conducted in hopes of using the plane again for transporting large cargo. The plane is 276 feet long and has a maximum gross weight of 1,411,000 pounds—also making it the heaviest plane in the air.

Quite hard to answer for the term "biggest" needs to be defined.
The largest aircraft ever built was the LZ 129 Hindenburg.
The Spruce Goose had the largest wingspan.
The KM Caspian Sea Monster is the longest heavier-than-air aircraft.
And finally, the An-225 "Mriya", the heaviest aircraft.
However the question is specifically "air plane" which is a common term for fixed wing aircraft. So the Hindenburg may be eliminated and you may choose between the Spruce Goose, Caspian Sea Monster and the Mriya.
I vote for the Mriya as the 'Monster is not a true aircraft and the Spruce Goose is dwarfed by the Mriya in all aspects except the wingspan.

The Spruce Goose, officially known as the Hughes H-4 Hercules, was the brainchild of flamboyant billionaire Howard Hughes. The aircraft had originally been ordered by the US government during World War II as a giant cargo plane ferrying up to 750 armed troops or two 30-ton tanks. As the war concluded, Hughes believed he could adapt the massive plane to revolutionize long-distance transportation in the fledgling airline and air cargo industires. His creation was the world's largest plane at the time and is still the largest flying boat ever built with a maximum takeoff weight of 400,000 lb (180,000 kg). The enormous craft also holds records for the largest wingspan at 319 ft 11 in (97.5 m), tallest airplane at 79 ft 3 3/8 in (24.2 m), and the largest aircraft ever made from wood.

The Hughes H-4 Hercules ("Spruce Goose") is an aircraft designed and built by Howard Hughes's Hughes Aircraft company. Its first and only flight was in 1947. Hughes himself detested the nickname "Spruce Goose". The nickname arose as a way of mocking the Hercules project due to Hughes' alleged misuse of government funding to build the aircraft. The Hercules is the largest flying boat, and still holds the record for the largest wingspan of any aircraft ever. Only one was ever built.
Due to wartime restrictions on the availability of metals, the H-4 was built almost entirely of laminated birch, not spruce as its nickname suggests. The aircraft was a marvel in its time. It married a soon-to-be outdated technology - flying boats - to a massive airframe that required some truly ingenious engineering innovations

Note the An-225 is longer due to the sweep of the tail surfaces.
Those are the figures, argue over which is bigger the way you define bigger.

As per my knowledge Airbus A380 double-decker is the biggest airplane in the world. The A380, which is designed to carry 555 passengers but can carry up to 800.
Airbus, is 80 percent owned by EADS, the European aerospace group, and UK defence firm BAE Systems Plc has a 20 percent stake.

Your question really comes down to how you decide to compare one plane to another. One of the measurements you mention is wingspan. While this dimension is often used to compare overall size, it is generally not the most accepted measure. Aircraft are usually ranked by weight, the maximum takeoff weight in particular. By this measure, the world's largest plane is the Antonov An-225 built in Ukraine when it was part of the Soviet Union.

the biggest Airport interior the international * Taken actually because of the fact the airport which takes up the main land mass, that's the King Khalid worldwide Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. It takes up some eighty one sq. miles - a community greater desirable than many cities. * minutiae: This airport has 4 terminals, yet in user-friendly terms 3 have ever been used. * the 2d best airport interior the international is Denver worldwide, which takes up fifty 3 sq. miles. * by skill of assessment, London Heathrow takes up around 3,000 acres, or basically 4.7 sq. miles. The Busiest Airport interior the international this relies upon on whether you reveal screen plane strikes (the numbers of take-offs and landings), or passenger numbers. An airport mutually with Washington national might have fairly severe plane strikes, yet because of the fact the biggest plane it handles is a Boeing 757, it handles fairly fewer annual passengers than different airports with comparable strikes. strikes and passenger numbers are the two suitable techniques of determining the "busiest" airport, besides the certainty that passenger numbers is the widely quoted discern.maximum Passenger numbers Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson is the busiest airport interior the international, coping with seventy six.7 million passengers in 2002. Atlanta overtook Chicago O'Hare in 1998, and is now heavily forward. Chicago dealt with sixty six.6 million passengers in 2002. Busiest worldwide Airport London Heathrow handles the main worldwide passengers (as detrimental to passengers on family flights, which make up the vast majority of site visitors at US airports). On an overall scale, Heathrow ranks third at the back of Atlanta and Chicago. Busiest city (all airports) * while the flights from all airports in a city are blended, London is by skill of a techniques the busiest aviation centre interior the international. * in user-friendly terms London, Tokyo and enormous apple have 2 airports interior the spectacular 30 worldwide. * Combining enormous apple's JFK (30 Million) and Newark (29 Million) nonetheless does no longer attain a similar point as London Heathrow. in spite of being the main worldwide gateway for Japan, Tokyo Narita (29 Million) is overshadowed by skill of the specifically family Haneda (sixty one Million). This places Tokyo on a reasonably even keel with Heathrow (sixty 3 Million) and Gatwick (30 Million). * while Stansted (19 Million), Luton (6.5 Million), and London city (one million.5 Million) are extra on spectacular, London handles an entire of basically approximately one hundred twenty million passengers each year.
