Interface is a company that has sustainable carpet products. No, it isnt hemp, but they make every effort to not impact the environment.

I never really thought about it, but I don't think I would consider it too environmentally friendly, since it starts out as wool or cotton fibers and then is manipulated into the actual felt fabric - either mechanically or chemically. Either way, seems like a lot of effort. Unless you put a spin on it that the original wool and/or cotton fibers were going to be thrown away, but then were reused by being made into felt.

You ought to have a look at natural wool, too, as it's very environmentally friendly, when produced correctly.

Also, there are many companies who produce eco clothing, so they might be worth investigating for more information. You could email them for information, after a quick google search, I'm sure they'd be happy to oblige.

You could also try looking at the link below - I did a very simple search on google for eco textiles and it showed this very interesting company. No doubt there would be lots more.

You could also try the Victoria and Albert Museum's website - a worldwide renowned textile archive and specialists.

Best of luck.
