If there is a World War III within the next decade, where and how will it begin, and what will be the outcome?

Okay, I know this is a bit of a dark question: but how might WWIII get started? When, how, why?

This is a matter of opinion. Identifying a "world war" is rather subjective.

Bill O'Reilly and Michael Savage both think that we're already in a world war. Their claim is that Muslims are roughly unified in fighting for domination in about 20 countries around the world and the War on Terror is seen as a response with a global objective, not just a single front in Iraq.

I happen to disagree. WW I and WW II were considerably more savage and bloody and fought on a much higher scale. This is more like a high crime wave.

I believe there are four possible reasons.

1) Because the oil runs out and 'civilized' countries start a war in order to secure their supplies. Already Russia is causing angst in Eastern Europe by hiking prices vastly and cutting whole countries off when they refuse to pay.

2) Because someone uses a nuclear weapon in anger (Not just Iran or North Korea - if India and Pakistan get back to the simmering hatred they've had for decades it's perfectly possible -as is Israel getting annoyed with its neighbours yet again)

3) Because the war on terror escalates and the US gets an enemy they cannot face with ease - such as Russia, or a Middle East coalition for instance. Most people in the Middle East didn't like Sadam Hussein much, he was seen as being just as unstable there as in the west - so didn't complain when he was invaded. Iran, however, is much more popular.

4) Because of a global castastrophe - such as the effects of climate change, a meteor strike, a huge earthquake (primarily in a rich nation such as Japan or the US) or a supervolcano eruption. This would perhaps not cause a world war in the same sense as world war one and two - but the chaos caused and the loss of global communications and markets would mean many governments would collapse - causing civil wars, petty wars over resources between neighbours and other such things. This is perhaps the one we should fear the most - though it is hopefully the least likely to happen in ten years.

Well, society would no longer frown on Medical marijuana and many sick old people start smoking weed for their ailments. When they vote in Florida, they accidentally voted for Bush. Bush accidentally becomes President and declares war in Afghanistan. He enjoyed it so much, He invades Iraq, bringin the English as well as several other countries into the war. Latter, his poles plummet, but now he is a lame duck, he says what the heck and decide to make Iran into the meat of a war sandwich. Syria then decide its a good time to invade Lebanon, since the Americans are distracted. Israel then decide to join in. Eritea angry over US dominance decide to attack Ethiopia,an AMerican pawn, to "liberate" Somalia. Kenya angry that Somalian Guerrila is operating in their border, decide to join the war. A Coup occurs in Pakistan, because Musharaff refuse to help their Muslim brothers and undergoes a civil war. India decide to take this opportunity to add to its Kashmiri holdings. CHina enters the war to hlep Musharaff and to prevent India from reclaiming Kasmir and to secure Pakistani Nukes, before it falls to the wrong hands. Terrorist attack starts showing up in Phillipines and Indonesia. Independence movements pop up in Borneo(by the Dayak), Timor and Sumatra. Riots by Muslim miority starts in Australia and France. THe riots start a string that runs through most of Europe. Germany Kills several turkish youth in an attempt to bring peace, which leads to a Turkish protest.

sorry but my crystal ball broke yesterday. No one can answer such a question (s) My advice is don't worry be happy! I mean why worry about stuff you can't control? Focus on your life how you can improve your relationships with people you interact with. Stuff like that! Make someone smile or laugh. We all have to go sometime and that's a fact. It might be by a war or old age but we all will die. Life is short and so am I!

I think we have the first chapters of how it would begin already underway.
We'll wind up getting into it with Iran, I'm not sure how there are a number of scenarios. This is when things will get messy. Iran will manage to put us in a abind in Iraq because of our troop shortage and their startegic position.
This will cause us to hit Iran in a way that Iran's allies...china and russia will disagree with. Once any of those countries get involved...it's on!

I hate the thought but here's my best guess and it won't be Iran, that would not be a world war, it may last 3-4 days.

N.Korea gets pissed off at someone, maybe South Korea and starts it. We help the South and China and Russia help the North.

We nuke all 3 countries.....................................The End.

hmm think about North Korea totalitarian regime....it will keep provoking its neighbours and USA.....but nowadays its politically difficult for a world war 3 to occur...

Outcome: as Albert Einstein said, i don't know with what weapons will ww3 be fought but i know that ww4 will be fought with spears and stones....
