You must have some assistance in this situation do not attempt this one on your own, try contacting a tree surgeon, as they are used to climbing trees,is it her tree?If it is not then you need the permission of the owner, they may even help you.If she owns the tree then no problem. The kitten is scared but feels secure in his/her hiding place,he/she could be tempted down with food.Perhaps an animal welfare group would help, in England we have the R.S.P.C.A.what is the equivalent in America.?If all else fails they catch them with grab equipment.Do any of your friends climb trees?I had the same problem except the tree was about 25 ft.I had to reach my cat by climbing up a ladder ,whilst someone held it for me,I am scared of heights, but,?!!!!!!!!

#1. Put cat food, which includes fish, milk, and beans, on the bottom of the tree. #2. Do you have a ladder that can maybe reach a low tree limb and you can climb the rest of the tree up? #3. Try calling it. #4. Whatever you do, do not scare it with a dog or loud noise. #5. Pray it climbs down. #6. Be careful if you decide to climb.

Stop worrying, the cat will come down on its own.
Throw some food up in the tree and lead a trail of food down
below the tree, the cat will come down.
The cat was probably in the tree after a bird.

Climb the tree to try and help the cat and get "stuck" with it. Then the fire department will come out.

did you call the local shelters? a tree service? i use to work at a shelter and we were trained with ropes to climb trees and retrieve cats if needed. please call your local shelters first. they may be able to help you. if that doesn't work call a tree service, who can get up into the tree. i am not sure if they can help you.
if no one is willing to help consider calling the local tv station - maybe getting press coverage someone will come forward who can help.
where is this woman located? if she is near the Boston area have her call the Animal Rescue League of Boston (sorry I do not have the number off hand)
Good luck, i hope the cat comes down

Get over it! Cat's do NOT get stuck in trees. They climbed up there, they can climb back down. The cat will come down when it is hungry.

Hi there...consider replying to this lady and mention about calling all the local arborist/tree services. They are equipped to be able to reach high places and sometimes are willing to help if they are not too busy.

i've always been led to believe they cant actually get stuck, perhaps its fear thats keeping it there, all the attention etc, everyone keep away, except the owner and try persuading it down with food, failing that someone is gonna have to go up there, try contacting the local animal welfare people, they should know what to do, cant be the first, good luck

The fire department answered this for you - get up the tree, grab the cat, then get yourself stuck.
