Ok, the bible was NOT written by god! All these atheists are saying things like "oh, christianity can't be true and god cant be real because adam and eve never existed and noah's ark was impossible,"
can't they see that the bible was written years ago by people wishing to tell stories of god's greatness. It is not a history book. Noah and the flood may have represented a man who decided to save a few animals from a flood, and it was demonstrating his kindness, or even providing a metaphor for how god cares for his people.
The bible was a way to spread faith and by telling grand stories, that was the way to get people to believe. Many of you atheists say the bible is "full of lies". The bible is full of stories, and it wasn't god telling stories, it was people.
Disproving the bible is very different to disproving christianity. So stop thinking by dismissing the bible as lies you can do the same to christianity. Just dont think your so smart, ok?

True Christians take it literally.

I don't "think" I'm smart. I know I am. It's "you're", by the way.

As an atheist (who can spell "atheist") I don't need you to inform me that the Bible was not written by God. The Bible is a lot more than a storybook. Why do Christians call homosexuality an "abomination"? Because the Bible says it is. Why do Christians believe that Jesus was the son of God? Because the Bible says he was. Why do Christians believe that God created the world? Because the Bible very specifically says that he did. Why do Christians threaten others with eternal hellfire? Because the Bible says that's what you get if you don't believe.

Please don't insult my intelligence by downplaying the significance of a book that is held up by the vast majority of Christians as the word of God. It's a joke, and so is Christianity.

If the Bible isn't Gods word--it's news to me. The New Testament is filled with accounts about Jesus Christ (God/Gods Son) The accounts are written by eye witnesses. If you have a "red letter" Bible the red lettering displays the words of Jesus. Words the listeners/eye witnesses heard. Noah's Ark. Ask yourself, How did Noah know it was going to rain? Are the 10 commandments fairy tales? Some of what is written in the Bible is also recorded in the history books of those nations. Not just in the Bible but in their history books! The Bible is not a book of fables.......

I'm not Athiest, and I'm not Christian, I'm Pagan. I'm sure that what your thinking now is "he just another Satan worshipper" I'm not. It is the same reasoning that others use in thinking about the Bible that you say they do. I converted from being a Mormon to being Wicca, because I felt that those books held just as much truth as what "The Lord of the Rings" did. The point I'm trying to make is that it's not that they take it literally, it's just that they don't believe. If people were to ask me for the Wiccan "holy book" I would have to reply that there is none, because our "book" in not a material thing, it is based soley on faith, I was not raised a Wicca, I was raised mormon, but the best day of my life is when I first felt the rush of magick through my veins. I know not how to use any of this, but I know it exists, just as you know that your God exists. Let us not become angry or questioning because of what others think. Let us not try to convert, let people be drawn into a religion because of what they feel is true.

Ok, 1st off, it's too many CHRISTIANS that take the bible too literally. 2nd off, it's actually people JUST LIKE YOU who chase so many away from your own religion, because you behave like a "talking ***" (old testament....guess where) Christians do a fine and dandy job of disproving christianity every day. Of course, if you say that a few make-believe stories that someone else made up about "god" should be good enough for me, who am I to argue? If your religion didn't offer an "easy way out" (Oh, I'm sorry! Whoops! All Better!) it would have never made it off the ground.

Why wouldnt I take it literally?? dosent a writer of what ever write for it to be taken literally? (Or are you listing to Preacher Joe again?) it sez what it sez.. so it shall be written so it shall be read.. and I'm not even an Xtian (cant stand xtians in fact)

Yer choice.. accept it at face value.. or dismiss it as crap.. one or the other.. if tou cant believe paragraph 74 you cant believe any of it eh? Beware of false phrophets.. inst that what it sez? Ask preacher Joe.. I'm sure he'll tell ya the way to god.. Umm ya think? To damn busy reading between the lines to see the words Huh? (>>>>Washes hands.. drys on towel)

BTW I'm a pagan..(if you want to think of me as a Satan worshiper.. so be it.. I've read yer books (62 versions in fact.. No biggy do as you will.. you SHEEP..) Now consider this.. If you dont believe in yer own book how do you expect the rest of us to take it seriously ya Schlep? if you dont believe in the literal value of yer own book.. toss it in the fire where it belongs EH? Maybe talk to yer god directly.. Oh what he wont talk to you? whats that tell ya babe?

Now if i was GOD or Jesus you better watch yer kister.. cuz I'd be pissed at this point... (and you'll never know the day of the comming isnt that what it sez) Just pray I'm not yer Judge.. carry on... SHEESH

BUT I do have a slight problem with the most of the new testament being written by people that never EVER met Jesus when he was alive (Paul for one the most prolific writer of personal letters that became the new testament & St John the devine(revalations) NO YOU IDIOTS it wasnt John the baptist.. he was beheaded well before the new testament.. and Paul (AKA Saul of Tarsus was a jewish heretick hunter & Killer.. never once saw jesus before he was crucified.. even the Bible sez that CRIPES.. sheesh are all Xtians Idiots? cant you fracking read? oh sorry yer sheep I forgot.. my appologies..(Idiots)

I dont dismiss the bible at all Up until the new testement anyway.. I believe in all Gods (what I'm gonna piss off even a minor God.?. I dont think so) I'll stick to your OLD testament though.. Jesus was a Jew.. and he didnt write one fracking book of the new testiment or the old.. whats that tell ya...???

Its either TRUE and literal.. or its NOT.. Pick one sheep...

Do you literally think Jesus is coming back to judge the world? Do you think a loving God would punish us infinitely for finite transgressions? I can't totally put down Christianity because I have Christian friends that I feel are better people than I am. I apologize to you. I feel you are sincerely kind and open minded. I still don't buy into Christianity, even though in person I may still deeply respect you.

Most Christians I know in real life see the bible as part literal truth and part symbolic and metaphorical, so I don't see disproving the bible as disproving Christianity.

Of course, that leaves me with the problem of what's true and what isn't, and I'm just not able to extend my credulity as far as you are.

Yes that’s very true but you’re missing the point. All the rules to religion are based on the thing you just said was rubbish. That means without that then there are no structures to it and you rely on rational thought physics and science. But then you say god lies outside of that department to. So what the hell do you have to go on if both of those have failed you. Wishful thinking?

I am a christian and I believe that Noah's ark was meant to be taken literally! They've worked out by reading the bible, that the Ark was big enough to fit all two types of animals in the world in just a third of the Ark.

Any religion that claims to be the only way to God is false. Are you a Christian who feels that you are the only ones going to heaven?

I agree about the bible. The God that I believe in is in no way portrayed accurately in the bible.
