Last night I was at my house with my best friends little sister, watching a movie, when she decides to go to the restroom. Amelia’s twenty-three and I’m twenty-seven, her brother and I go back to elementary school. I’ve known Amelia since the day she was born. We never really got along too well, she was always arguing about something and I was always telling her to shut up.
Anyway when she went to the bathroom I though I would pull a prank on her and scare her… I know stupid and a childish idea, but I didn’t think any harm would be done! Everyone’s done it before, hide in a dark corner and scares the hell out of the unexpected person.

Well let me get to the point. My house is very big and can be pretty creepy at night. I waited until she was done in the bathroom and walking out down the dark hall, then I jump out and scared the crap out of her!

I guess I thought she would have laughed it off or try to punch me like always. Well she screamed really loud and punched me in the chest, and stormed off. I was laughing because I thought it was funny at the time. When I went back to the living room where we were watching a movie her back was turned towards me, and her shoulders were shacking really badly. She had this very frightened look in her eyes,
I was kind of shocked because she NEVER cries!

I don’t know what came over me but the next thing I knew I was on the sofa with Amelia in my lap while she sobbed, as I stroked her hair and back, telling her I was sooo sorry. It was like an hour later and she was still holding on to me crying hysterically. She cried until she was physically exhausted.
I don’t get it we do dumb crap like that all the time and she has NEVER cried before. I know it was a stupid, stupid thing to do. I think she was crying for some other reason but I don’t know what.
Could she be crying for another reason? Is this a normal reaction? What should I do?

The reason why I've asked this question again is because I want broad options.

You need to ask her why she reacted like this...it sounds like she maybe going through something way bigger than just this.

Sounds like she needs you to get her to open up.

Hope it all works out soon.

how old did you say you were?27?still playing games like that?seriously....anyway you need to realise she is not one of the boys in the football team...she is a girl...and the last time i checked we dont haul ourselves on one another for a laugh.she is someone you have know all your life so its possible you take her on like your sister.but she is a grown woman now..you may not see it..she would have loved that when she was 16 but that phase is far gone.she must have been terrified to death by your stupid joke, but more to that the fact that you probably havent realised she has changed so much.it is also possible that she has some other issues going on..and that crying triggered by your insensitive laughing session could have brought that to the surface..you can try lay all the mucking to the side and try to be her friend for one in your life..not an all year round hallowen luna.i suggest take her for a coffee or something and really apologise to her.let her know it was wrong of you(kick yourself hard..dont hold back) and let her know that your going to change..it would be nice for her to know that your also her friend no only her brothers and she can talk to you if she has a problem or sum....dont forget a girl loves surprise simple presents(we dont always think rocks you know)so that might also be a nice thing to do
if you honestly cannot do that..why dont you scare yourself out of existance...do all the women a favour....

it sounds like she has been worried or thinking about something bad that has happened that day or a while ago, you giving her a fright proberbly just set her off. I get like that when something big has happened and i havnt delt with it, and if someone says the littlist thing i start crying. Women hormones are a crazy thing.

Ask her whats really wrong. If she wants to talk about it? If not just be a good friend and hang out with her, and suggest she talk to someone if its hurting her that much. hope that helps

i don't why she cried, because as a woman i would have found it a lot funnier if i'd beat rather than just hit you after something like that. you don't know what may have happened to her in the past or what has on her mind walking through the darkened hallways of your admittedly "creepy" house. you scared the hell out of that poor girl and you're going to hell.... :-O

Don't you think you should have talked to her about it?
When you want to know something about someone else you talk to them. Sincerely, I think that this buddy-like friendship between you means a little more to her. Have you ever thought that she might be in love with you? The fact that she kept crying for so long in your lap, longer that any fright might make someone cry, allows me to believe that she might have some deeper feelings for you.

When you take away a girl's dignity like that, she might do that. You probably hit on something primal, like a real fear that she has. Her emotions probably took over because what she felt was so overwhelming. You'll learn more and more that "funny" is really relative and start treating women more gently. I can think pushing you over a cliff is funny, but you might disagree.

may be something scared her very bad before if not then it sounds very odd the way she reacted.u should ask her why she reacted the way she did then u will know and if its ur fault then dont scare her any more cause like the saying goes its all fun and games until some one gets hert.

i hope this helped

well i feel she could be crying for some other reason .......becoz normally one would get scared for a while and maybe might cry for while and then laugh it off.....her crying hysterically some how doz not fit in too well.....and it certainly doesnt not look likea normal reaction for wht u did....seems like she waz kinda low and was glad u were there to give her a shoulder to cry on.

Umm...I've answered before. I'm just here for the free points.

Why do people ask the same damn question over and over again? Listen to the advice from the first time, or don't ask.
