And i don't like that. Whenever she does something, or can't do something, she sends me a check. The last time she did it i almost decided to just rip the check up, but instead i bought a little girl some clothes with it. I wish she would be normal. How could i tell her how i feel without upsetting her (she's easily upset. Gets angry quickly)? I love her, and i want her to understand that sometimes i just want to spend time with her, not just go shopping.

Please, serious answers only. Don't give me any crap. Thank You

i know that she is doing it from her heart and all, i just want to get through to her that that isn't the ONLY way to show that she loves me. I love her, and i know that now that she is retired her money supply will be running lower. But the last time i asked her why she was always just giving me money instead of doing something else, she was like "fine then, i won't give you any more money", (very sarcastically), and she walked away. I just don't know how to cope.

You don't get it. It's not like she just gives me money. it's like, she'll make a comment that upsets me or something. And we might get into a little argument (nothing big, i am too respectful to fight with a grown woman, especially her), and the next thing i know she is sending me a $25 check.

And suffer no dillusions. i don't have an elderly type grandma that you might be imagining, she's only like 67, and she is always doing something.

because it is love. money feeds, you gives you a house, gives you a car, gives you life, and you did a great thing granny gave to you and you gave to a little girl. this is great. find out what kinds of things that your granny likes to do, or what she use to do. tell her you think it is nice that she gives you money , maybe she likes going shopping, lots of woman do, don't you go shopping with your friends some times. maybe its like that.

Really, this may be all she feel capable of giving, and to her it might be a lot. You'll never know the secret pains and sorrows that another goes through. She seems to be doing the best she can. At her age you probably aren't going to achieve any earth-shattering changes. Just try to be thankful for all the good that she DOES do. Many people don't get that from anyone in their families, and she IS doing it from heart. Give her a break and good luck.

The fact that you probably invariably CASH the checks send her mixed signals. Just let them pile up uncashed witout commenting on them further. Actions speak louder than words. Try doing activities that require no money whatsoever together, like feeding ducks/ pigeons. That will send another silent message and show her that even though she might not have the words to make your relationship stronger, all you really require is her comforting presence. She is probably insecure about what she has to offer someone of your generation. You will have to come up with the ideas until she gets a clearer picture of what is neccessary.

This is her way of letting you know she loves and cares about you. It may be unrealistic or crazy to you but just because someone doesn't love you in the way you see is right doesn't mean they don't love you with all of their heart. She just doesn't see life they way you do and probably feels happier when she is buying something for herself or someone else and if she can afford it, let her have her happiness and just understand that this is her way of easing pain for others and herself.
