It really depends where you are. In most of Latin America, it would be Spanish. In a large part of Eastern Europe, German is a widely-known second language and can help you get along. (When I was in Ukraine, I met lots more people who could speak German with me than could speak English.) Russian is still widely spoken in Uzbekhistan and a lot of the former Soviet republics. Arabic, of course, is widely spoken in the Middle East - though not all of its spoken dialects are mutually understandable. In some areas of Africa, French or Portuguese might come in handy - or Swahili or Hausa.
The world is just too complex and interesting a place to have one language dominant all over!

There`s no longer something incorrect with it. It`s probable greater of a habit than something. I`m an American who got here to Japan for the 1st time on the age of 21. I`m 40 4 now. i like my usa and that i`m proud to be an American. yet there are time while it basically feels less difficult to communicate jap provided that`s what I pay attention around me all day at paintings or on television. So as quickly as I communicate it basically comes out. the only time I make a consious selection approximately which language to apply is as quickly as I`m with somebody who in user-friendly terms speaks one among the two languages.

all of the language has its own purpose and that is to coomunicate thos ewho can understand it. it is not that english is the prefereed language to all and that all is strying to undertand english its just that is the center of all communication language for me. i think there is no prefered language being used. whats the use of english languge if your on a place who does not speak english so its useless.
so for me there is no language most preferred.
