takes a deep breath before approaching you, says hello and makes no eye contact with you...and mumbles something under his breath? Is that a sign of interest or repulsion?
I'm thinking he probably didn't want to talk to me.

It sounds to me that he likes you and he was just nervous. He was probably afraid that you would shoot him down.

What really matters is, do you like him? If you like him, then a simple return smile often does wonders. It may make him less insecure and more confident. Try to make eye contact and be nice, most of all be yourself. If he likes you, he'll respond. Trust me, being kind, eye contact & a smile, does wonders, especially with men, even when they don't like you. If he likes you & is just socially challenged, then, try going out with a group of friends, your age, especially if you are young. Now if he's repulsed by you, don't take it personal. Not everyone has good taste. If you don't like him & he pursues you, let him know in a kind way, that you aren't interested. Some women love shy guys or short guys.It doesn't mean, any woman has good taste. We have preferences, just like the men.

You may be correct that he did not want talk to you, but sometime its also possible that he has a very deep interest on you, but due to shy nature(makes no eye contact) he cannot say openly the same.

If the guy did not want to talk to you, he never would have approached you. I think that he is interested in you, but is most probably shy, and not certain how you would react to him. Give him time, encourage him and he will come around.

I'm thinking he was either annoyed or bothered. He probably didnt really want to see you but was being polite and still spoke. I wouldnt be in such a rush to speak with him again unless he comes to you.

He's either nervous (because he likes you) or he's just plain weird and is like that to all women. Do a little snooping. =) If he's like that even to the most unattractive girl in the room then he's jittery with all women. Why, do you like him?

Well if he approached you...it sounds to me like he fancies you but is shy about it...
Question is...do you want him to fancy you (I think you do!!!) If so take it slow but encourage him to open up to you!

Depends on how good looking you are and how outgoing he is.
