Well my son had a girl that lived 600 miles away and drove every week end for two years, then his feelings changed not because of the distance.
I fell in love with a yank and we where back and forth over the pond for two years and it was costly it didn't work out only because when i went to live in the states i was home sick and his commitments kept him there.
So i say yes it can work but dam hard work and its not like you can say to yourself , think ill pop over and see them lol, good luck to u tho. xx

LDR's as they are called don't have a great track record. There are only 2 solutions. Cut ties or cut distance.

Unfortunately, odds are against it. None of my friends have been able to make it work. Eventually, the lack of physical affection wears the relationship down.
