Walking, 30-45 minutes a day, 5 or 6 days per week. Dance to your favourite music. Cut way back on T.V. and computer use. Given a choice, ALWAYS use the stairs rather than an escalator or elevator.
And don't cut your calorie intake less than 1400 per day. Too little food sends your body into "starvation" mode and decreases your metabolism! Eat 5-6 small meals of 200-400 calories per day, choosing high quality, lean protein (egg whites, chicken breasts, broiled fish, low fat yogurt or cottage cheese.)
ALWAYS eat a good breakfast! Oatmeal with skim milk will keep you feeling full longer, as will many small meals with a serving of protein and salad, veggies or fruit. Limit your bread and pasta, and choose only whole grain when you do eat it. AVOID white sugar...it is a poison that keeps you craving sweets.
Do all of this and I can guarantee that you will drop the weight, quickly, healthfully and without feeling like you're starving! The less sugar you eat, the less you will crave it.
I did this and lost 35 pounds in 6 months..a year and a half ago! The weight has stayed off!!! And trust me, that is the best part!

Walk is the only option that seems feasible to me. Walk for at least 30 minutes a day increasing it to 45minutes to 1 hr. Should be sufficient. Avoid taking vehicles for visiting the neighbourhood grocery store and walk instead. Think it would help.

Speed walk. I walked fast for one hour, and lost about 35 pounds in 3 months...with weight watchers diet...online. You eat your own food, or dine out, and still lose weight, plus you get support.

If you have knee problems you might want to consider exercise that doesn't put pressure or stress on them.
Riding a stationary bike or swimming are two good exercises I can think of that are "no-impact" but you might have to go to a gym to use them.
Exercise is very important, whether you're trying to lose weight or not.
Good luck!
