direct tv guide in orange?

What does it mean when the program/show is in orange on the Direct Tv guide...?

It would help if you could tell us which model DirecTV receiver you have. On some I believe orange is used to denote sports programming, however it could be any category. Movies are shaded a particular colour on some receivers as well. If you have a DirecTivo or PVR it could denote that that program is scheduled to record. Some receivers that just means it's the program you have highlighted. Of course you can always consult your manual or DirecTV 1-800-DIRECTV
