Don't listen to Dave, smoking is bad when you're not pregnant so why in the world would it be okay when you are pregnant, I'd advise not to even try because you'd increase the chance of having both a physical and mental disability for your newborn, Dave's child is a very very lucky exception

Yeah, it's bad. The compounds in smoke bind the hemoglobin in your blood and lower your oxygen levels, which can cause the baby to be born very small, and may affect lung development.
If you smoke, and you just found out you're pregnant, you need to quit. You don't have to do it cold turkey, though, because the withdrawal symptoms can be worse than the cigarettes for your baby. Use a patch or gum. A few women I know have managed to limit themselves to only one cigarette a day, which is still not great, but better than a pack a day. :) The point being, the less you smoke, the better for your baby.

Smoking while you are pregnant can increase the chances of you having a miscarriage, the baby being stillborn and low birth weight. Low birht weight has been shown to co-relate with other more serious health problems. In addition, the baby has a greater chance of developing lung problems.
There is no worse or better time to smoke. Just don't smoke.

OK, smoking is bad for you, pregnant or not. If you find yourself pregnant, though, you don't want to just quit suddenly. This can send the fetus into shock. But, according to dr's, you should immediately begin to decrease the number of cigarettes you smoke per day and try to eventually quit altogether. Yes, smoking can cause a variety of birth defects so do try to quit asap.

Better not to smoke while you are pregnant. The chances that something might go wrong for the baby while you are pregnant and you do smoke are too high. Of course there are babies who might be more affected by your smoking while you are pregnant and others who might be less affected. Just stop it when or if you are pregnant for your babies sake. I think this is worth it. Really!

It constricts the umbilical cord and causes less air to enter your baby's brain. This can result in developmental and learning problems.
And I suggest you take a look at what babies look like when they are born premature or low birthweight because the mother smoked while she was creating a life inside her body. Your baby is innocent and I think it's an evil thing to do to make a newborn child pay for your selfishness. You need to do right by your baby. You're its MOTHER. If you don't protect it from the bad of the world, who will?

There is never a good time to smoke while pregnant. Not only could it cause complications during the pregnancy but it could cause the baby to have problems as a child i.e asthma and such. I would recommend you quit but you will have to find another alternative if you can't because aids in quitting smoking are also not good for the baby such as the patch as it can have more tar/nicotine in it then all the cigs. you smoke in a day.

Smoking deprives YOU and The BABY Oxygen. The fact that Dave's child was ok at birth, how will he feel if the child gets cancer, will he think back and ask: If she didn't smoke, would he have problems now?
Its so simple, if smoking is bad for you, what do you think a dependent baby has to do to get Oxygen from its mother who is smoking???? Think!!!

Well i dont even know why you smoke in the first place???
I dont mean to be rude??? I know its your life im talking about but why??
Pregnant or NOT it still causes you harm and besides when you are pregnant you are NOT but two and therefore dont only think about yourself think about the one inside you as well,
the smoke that you inhale while smoking contains poisonous gases and the baby in you gets it.
So why do it???
I still know its your life i am talking about but then i would advice you to leave smoking completely.I hope you wouldnt like your son/daughter to grow up and start smoking???
DO YOU???
GOOD LUCK!!!

well im not saying smoking through pregnancy is ok,i did but if i had of been one of those people who could easily quit i would have.My first child katelyn was 8lb 4oz and was in perfect health.i know that its not that easy to quit as much as people say it is(they probably dont smoke) so although its not great to smoke through pregnancy and there is a chance your baby could be affected theres also a chance that your baby will be fine i guess in the end you've gotta decide weather your willing to take that chance.
