Imagine... finally the world has found 100% proof that an organized religion is real and factual. The current "God" of that religion retires and names you as his/her successor. What is the first thing on your agenda to do/take care of?

First thing I'd do would be to set a simple set of basic expectations, *and* communicate them directly to people so there would be no doubt about My Almighty Will. These rules would include very public and horrible punishment of anyone who falsely claims to speak for Me or tries to make money from others in My name.
I would then tell people to stop spending time in church trying to kiss My Almighty @ss; since I'm now omniscient, I know what you want, what you did and whether you're sincere or not. Since I'm also omnipresent and all-powerful, I can talk directly to whomever needs it as often as necessary.

Wrong - "Religion" will never hit it off with God - God demands a relationship based in spirituality with Him through Jesus Christ, via the Holy Spirit. Your whole scenario depicts God as a mortal, therefore, limiting Him !

1.what have you been doing all this time?
2.do you think you have done a gewd job?
3.how come you come to people like george w. bush and not little timmothy when he is praying for a new pair of lungs?

5is elvis really dead[ i think he would be if he found out who his daughter married]

bless the whole world with peace to eliminate the killing, the dying of young kid either as part of the war or part of the cause of war.
then, start organizing everyone to cleanse their soul, purifying the inner self so they can be more effective. with clear mind, heart and soul, we all can deliver goodness to the whole world.
people should be honest, understanding, god-fearing, kind, caring and loving to be qualified to be aligned in delivering worthwhile messages to the mankind.

Announce to the world that they no longer have to read, study, or follow any religious texts. I would want people to follow just a basic list of rules that would involve no more than common sense to follow. I would let everyone believe what they wish to believe as long as it is not harming or interfering with someone elses life.

I would be confused by my power. First i take away all the weapons. Give people soft bats. Then i let people work to makes this a better world. Everybody goes to heaven as long as they are nice to others. Even crappy ppl can go to heaven i just don't tell them that. Only sick murderers and rapists go to hell. Other people might just go there for a year or two.
I agree with triforce: Legalize pot and make it good for your health.
