Yes, but as the other users stated, Americans cannot solely be blamed. Any individual who drives a car, takes part in bonfires (let alone light a match), uses certain house cleaners and hairsprays, and even opening up a bottle of beer, can be claimed to contribute to the excess of Carbon in our atmosphere. Although some release more carbon than others, such as major industrial sites, we are all guilty of the hole in our Ozone layer. Yes, the use of chlorofluorocarbons has been banned, however a bigger step must be taken to correct this problem. I do believe that Global Warming is man-made because we disturbed the balance of carbon, yet you would think that we would stop cutting down forests considering that the trees assist in providing oxygen and absorbing some of the carbon. However it was not our intention to do such damage to the atmosphere. But now MY question is what are we going to do to stop it?

In response to your slur of an 'imperialist americans', the only country that beat off attackers in WWll that turned around and helped them rebuild their countries and economies was the USA. What other country that had a mortal combat in the history of the world did tnat? Most victors pillage, rape, kill the defeated enemies much like Russia did to Germany post WWll. The Spaniards in 1692 conquered Quam and killed all the men!! When Japan conquered Quam in 1939, they took all the men to slave work camps where many died. The Mongols killed whole villages if they resisted. The success the Americans have had is a direct result of having a weak government based on English Common Law. A weak government is less prone to the massive corruption seen in most other countries in the world. It seems that third world countries are the most corrupt. The people have no spine to fight their own government. The Roman Civil Law of the non-British dominated countries does not provide much freedom for the common people. Unfortunately, the success the USA has enjoyed may not be exportable to the third world countries. Dictatorships are difficult to take down. People have to be ready to die to do it. In countries where any changes are subject to their dictator crushing their proponents is not going to progress very far. If you prefer that way of life you are free to go to those countries. But, if you notice, many more people prefer to try to get into this country.
Back to global warming, it seems to me that CO2 produced at higher altitudes where nature has no way to clear it is the more likely source of all this nasty CO2 greenhouse gas. That would be the jet traffic above 30,000 ft. It seems to me that '40 yr time table' fits the rise in CO2 better than 'industrialization'. Jet engines burn 2-5 tons of kerosene/hr. Each ton burned produces 3.66 tons of CO2. There are thousands of hours or jet traffic every day over the world. Growing plants take up all the CO2 they can instantly as it is a basic plant food. Mostly in the oceans .

Great circular logic there. They're responsible for the destruction of the earth because of their destruction of the earth!
And no, we're not responsible for global warming. There's barely any concrete evidence that global warming is man made in the first place, let alone an actual phenomenon that is affecting us now, at this point in history.

We (Americans) are not the main cause. But the US is the largest single contributor at 25%. ( http://www.nationmaster.com/red/pie/env_co2_emi-environment-co2-emissions )
Per capita, Americans contribute the most for any of the larger countries, followed closely by Australia and Canada. (http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/env_co2_emi_percap-environment-co2-emissions-per-capita )
I apologize for my country and I am embarrassed to be an American.

Yes. Also the governments of other countries, as they typically keep their countries impoverished for their personal gains - these countries create a lot of waste, just in different ways.

Probably not.
While we do consume rather a large share of resources we are not the worst polluters. China, India and Russia are worse polluters, and nobody even mentions them.
You bash us because we are successful. I will take success over whatever it is that fuels your motivation in asking this ridiculous question.
