I have never known a tattoo to turn blue. you just have to take care of it while it's healing. Sunshine and chlorine affect it pretty badly so when they tell you not to go swimming or anything for the 1st 3 months....don't do it.

The ink artists use these days are far better than those that were used in the past. If you take proper care of your tattoo and remember to use sunblock when outside then I wouldn't think that you'd have a problem. Also, remember to seek out a high quality artist that can do exactly what you want... and don't go to someone less talented just to save a buck or two.

I think they turn blue with age, like a dark blue color. I mean, your skin gets wrinkly, saggy and spotty as you get older, the tattoo also gets twisted out of shape, fades, changes colors, etc. It's a part of you so it ages like you do.

That would be India ink that turns sort of a greenish blue over time. I have had tats for 11 years, and none of my black ink is blue.

Protect your tatts from the sun. Put strong sunblock or zinc over them. Black ink is made up of numerous colours, but the lighter ones are more sensitive to the sun and will fade quicker over time, so when the yellow tone drops out f the black, you get that blue-green shade.

The ink will probably stay black if you don't let it see the sunshine and/or you go back to have it touched up annually.
