Ok, so I have this issue with my school work. I start it, and I work into it, and when I near the end, and I know that I am near the end, I try to hurry to get to the end. In the process, I skip things, sometimes important things, and just want to get it done! However, when I don't know that I am nearing the end, I tend to take my time, and usually when I have an instructor, I am more focused.
Thing is, is that, when I read, my mind goes all over and starts thinking of different stuff, and is not focusing on what I am doing. But when I listen to someone teach me, I stay focused, and I learn ALOT!
I have this online course I am taking and while it is towards my career, and I KNOW its what I want to do, I can't get into the idea that this is important, and that I need to learn it! Yes, I am lazy, but who isn't?
Could someone tell me what I can do to help stay focused and comprehend the material, without my mind being distracted?

It seems to me that you need to learn some study skills. Study skills take discipline. You need to first, set aside a specific time to do your work. Secondly, you need to be in a place with no distractions. Once you have done that you need to make sure that you schedule periodic breaks throughout your study time to make sure that you can keep focused on the task at hand. If you can keep your attention on something for only fifteen minutes, then schedule a break every fifteen minutes. That will be the basic foundation for success. Another thing to work on is discipline. Think about what it is or why it is that you are being distracted. Once you identify what is taking your attention away from your work, you can work on addressing that issue. Chances are, once you've addressed the issue it will no longer be a distraction. Finally, in addition to all of this, set goals for yourself and when you reach the goal give yourself some type of reward. It could be something simple or something more significant depending on what you are rewarding yourself for. Try these things, and you should be able to focus on your work, and complete your tasks.
