My wife and I got married there 12 yrs ago, fantastic people, fantastic food, fantastic beaches, You must see the Kandy Dancers and visit the elephant orphanege. We went to the south a place called Burahwella. The to the Madives for the honeymoon, it's so close.

yes, I have been there many times. It is a gem of a island. Colombo is the capital city, and it has an international airport. So be in colombo, don't venture north to jaffna, where there could be trouble. You can get good accomodation in colombo. you can bargain the price, even at a 5 star hotel. there are casinos, hotels, shopping malls etc. The people are friendly and courteous.

It's a great place, but be careful where you go. also you will need to save some 'Sri Lankan rupees' to pay for you exit visa.
the south of the Island has some great beaches.
