I've only been to the major Chinese cities but the best things include:
The History - China was a developed country thousands of years ago and there is evidence everywhere.
The Humanity - All of the major cities are crowded and there is a vibrancy that lifts you, especially Hong Kong and Shanghai
The Beauty - China is a vast country with great natural beauty and diversity
The worst things for a Westerner are the pollution, hygiene, and the perceived rudeness of people in the cities.

Worst- They teach english by rote memorization. It drives me crazy. Language is fluid. There is not one right answer, but that is how they teach it. I have students who could easily hold a complex conversation with any native english speaker, but cannot pass the grammer tests they give here. I probably couldn't pass the grammer tests they give here. And it's all about the grammer to them. They teach them to write by having them copy long passages from their books. Problem is sometimes their books are wrong. My co-teachers ask me about the practice excercise questions, which are multiple choice, and too many times I have had to tell them that at least two of the answers would work.
Best- the people. They are amazing. They are really generous and friendly. Anytime you need help they will drop what they are doing to help you. Even people who don't have much will be generous to you.
-public transportation is good too. I don't need a car here. I can get anywhere I need to go by bus or taxi. Taxis are cheap in my city. I was overweight when I came to China and I've probably lost about 15 kilos (30+ lbs) just because I walk more to get to the bus.

China is a BEAUTIFUL place, though it's polluted by chinese peeps and their cars. You can see lots of pretty scenery and there are a lot of sites to visit. Plus, there's Hong Kong Disneyland! It's not known for its cleanliness but the hospitality is wonderful (unless you run into grouchy chinese persons) Also, the hotels in China are very hi-tech and bright. The food is delicious and scrumptious (if you like chinese food).

Best :
- food : a lot of different type of dishes depending on where you live
- cheap life for a foreigner
- beautiful girls just like anywhere else in the world ( I'm not interested in boys )
- nice people always willing to help you
- lots of places to visit
Worst :
- not educated people : they spit everywhere, don't often say sorry
- crazy drivers : they should take lessons
- appartment not heated in the south of the Yangzi river so it is damn cold here
- pollution
I am there now and wouldn't quit it for anything.
