a couple years ago when i had my first computer, it was running REALLY slow,at the time i was buying it from a rent to own so i called and complained and they sent someone to my house ANYWAY... he went to "run" i believe then typed in some letters (i think) anyhow what popped up was a list of programs that were currently "running" he showed me how each one had a check by it to show it was running and slowing down my computer- he proceeded to uncheck each one i wasnt using and it was amazing how fast my comp. was after- my question is does anyone know how to pull up that file again? please help if you can and thank you in advance! :)

A couple of quick fixes are to reduce the number of programs that load at startup by using msconfig from the Start menu (assuming you're working on a Windows platform) or to defrag your hard drive. make sure you have enough RAM for you computer, and avoid running too many programs that use more ram.. dont forget to scan your computer for virusses ok.. all the time..so goodluck buddy

Sounds like he disabled everything in "msconfig".
Type that without the quotes in the "Run" box.
Best bet is to upgrade the hardware. Get 2 SATA Hard Drives and a RAID controller card, then set them up in a RAID 0 configuration. Install a nice video card such as the nVidie GeForce 7900. Then max out the RAM - preferablyh Dual Channel. Don't forget to get a faster CPU; get the max the motherboard will handle.
