In movies and TV 2 guys are fighting and one grabs the other's head, rears back, and BLAM! Knocks him silly. The thing is, based simply on physics, it should hurt him as much as the guy he hits! Is this a real fighting move or something fight choreographers invented?

The person, who headbutts would be headbutting a softer part of their opponents head with a harder part of their head!!

I.e Forehead into the nose!!

If you place your fingers on your forehead near your hairline (assuming you don't have receding hair) and move them up a little you'll find a spot that comes to a slight point on most people. This area also has reduced number of nerves in it. It should be within an inch of a normal hairline. This is the spot you use to do a headbutt. It takes practice getting it right, too low and you could cut your forehead on their teeth or split the skin against their skull, too high and you could knock yourself out. But yes, if done properly it usually ends a fight pretty fast. Think about it, which is harder, fist or a hard spot on the skull? The skull would be harder. So striking with it will do more damage.

Done to the nose it usually breaks the nose causing them to bleed and/or tear up as well as causing great pain. To the eye ridge you could break the eye socket though this is more rare it causes limited vision and can cause blood to run into the eyes. To the mouth you can break teeth and even the jaw.

It works, but it will hurt you also so I would'nt do it unless you are desperate or have one of them really hard craniums. Definately do like the guys before me told you, aim for the nose or the teeth, if you end up colliding foreheads with somebody then you won't like that. Also, because the skull is bone, you can actually train it to get harder just like they train fist to get harder and you can train your skull to be a weapon, but I would'nt do this unless you don't care about your brain cells and you just want to kick some a s s.

believe me it works.. it hurts you a little if you do head to head..but if you do it like zidane..it knocks the wind out of him. Or if you do it on the face you can break a few teeth, or bones

A proper headbutt breaks the other person's nose. They don't butt heads for that reason.

You dont smack the same part, you use your forehead at the hairline to hit the bridge of their nose
