Mine was infected when I was 18 and it was very very painful and oozing. I went to the dr and they put me on strong antibiotics and told me not to take it out til it heals or I may get a worse infection. It was hell. Keep it clean with dial antibacterial at least 2 times a day. Good luck. ;)

If it's very red or warm to the touch *that is normal though, if you've just gotten it in the past two days or so*... Any kinda nasty colored discharge (like puss... usually a yellow color=bad lol). A few ways to fix it is using anti-bacterial soap, If it's some sort of fungal infection, then a fungal cream... I don't suggest taking it out, because it can close and have an infection inside that you wouldn't be able to see or fix. A sure-fire answer is go see a doctor asap. (I have a bunch of piercings, just not my belly button lol) Hope this was helpful

If its really red then it might be infected!! If it hurts when you move it! One good way to clean it it out is salt water!! Put the salt water in a shot glass and put it on your navel and swish it around! Do that about 3-4 times a day! Oh don't forget to move the ring around!

Does it sting and itch at the same time? Same as ear piercing, I would say. Alcohol on cotton makes it feel better. If it keeps on, you could be allergic to nickel in the metal alloy. Alcohol helps this, too. for awhile.

if your throwing pus its not good not lymph which are dead cells and is a white discharge which is ok and is a sign of healling..if it looks irritated and and or if it has a bump around the hole ..if you have a bump take sea salt diluted with warm water that is and hold it against your belly ring..

if the naval area especially the pierced skin is showing some redness, inflammation, swelling and painful. by this you should remove the earring and clean it with Betadine.
